  • Salary:  Group Manager B + up to £10,000 relocation package + Lease car + 20% Flexi Duty Allowance

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is a high performing, dynamic and progressive organisation that has high ambitions for the service that it provides to the communities and people of Cheshire. 

We are currently seeking to appoint Group Managers into a variety of posts and are seeking individuals who possess excellent leadership and communication skills, professionalism, and who are self motivated with a drive for high standards and excellence. 

The successful candidates will possess an understanding of the issues relating to the fire and rescue service at national and local levels, have political awareness and be committed to diversity, inclusion and staff engagement.   They will also be required to demonstrate competence against the “Leading the Function” element of the NFCC Leadership Framework, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a high performing team in line with the Service’s core values.

This opportunity is open to internal and external candidates who are:
• Temporary Group Managers or
• Competent Station Managers A or B. 

Applications are also welcomed from substantive Group Managers looking to transfer into Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The successful candidates will be part of the Group Manager rota system and will be required to manage operational incidents at the appropriate level.

Whilst aptitude, skills and experience are key requirements, academic ability is also important and it is expected that applicants will have achieved the IFE Level 4 Certificate Unit 3: Fire Service Operations and Incident Command paper and/or a Fire Related Degree.

Due to the current situation with COVID-19 we will not be including Written or Group Assessments this year to ensure that we are adhering to social distancing requirements, so the selection process will comprise of the below three elements each representing a gateway so only those successful at each stage will progress throughout the process.
