Group Manager, Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service 

Salary: £47179 (development) - £52301 (competent B) + 20% Flexible duty allowance p.a.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications from motivated and positive leaders to help build on our achievements through continuous improvement. We are seeking to fill a number of current and future Group Manager vacancies, as they arise, up until March 2022. Applicants must be prepared to serve in any Group Manager post across the Service. Successful applicants must provide an agreed response base whilst providing operational cover on the flexi duty system.

Due to the base location of some posts in buildings shared with Police colleagues, any offer of contract will be subject to satisfactory enhanced Police vetting.

Applications are invited from competent, substantive Station Managers or existing Group Managers. All applicants will be required to complete an application form, references will also be requested from current service line managers.

Ideally, candidates will have already completed or be working towards the IFE Level 4 Fire Service Operations and L3 Diploma Fire Safety, qualifications. Successful applicants will be required to complete the two papers, and if not achieved within 2 years of the date of appointment, the candidate will revert to the role of Station Manager.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake a series of assessments, which will include:

Command assessment, during week commencing Monday 1st March 2021. Case study assessment, during week commencing Monday 8th March 2021. A management briefing session and final interview during week commencing Monday 15th March 2021.

The successful applicants will be placed into the Group Manager Talent Pool and will progress into a Group Manager position as they become available without the need to complete further processes.
