The Team Leader – Fleet Resource and Support is responsible for all aspects of fleet data management and scheduling for the County Council's fleet of around 500 vehicles, from cars to large library vehicles and Fire Appliances. This service ensures all vehicles are acquired, maintained and disposed of to meet the Council's needs in line with relevant procedures and Standing Orders. In addition, the service provides a pool car management service with a fleet of over 120 cars used by officers and partners from various locations around the county.

The team consists of a County Cars Supervisor, two Senior Fleet Support Officers and to assist the County Fleet Manager in the efficient and cost effective running of the West Sussex County Council vehicle fleet, to include regular reviews of the WSCC pool car fleet ensuring that this service provides best value for money.

About you

Acting as a key stakeholder and working closely with the Workshop Team, you will need to be able to ensure that the WSCC & FRS fleet remains legally and corporately compliant with a robust maintenance scheduling programme, whole life strategy and minimised vehicle downtime working in partnership with service users.

Additionally, you will have the ability to engage and liaise closely with the Procurement and Contract team to ensure a timely programme for vehicle replacement and disposal is planned and maintained.

Key to this is the ability to influence and steer both internal and external stakeholders to deliver the requirements of both the County Council and the Fire and Rescue Service.
