National Protection Learning User Group  

Applications are invited from senior managers (Area Managers and above or equivalent) to lead this exciting new user group. National Protection Guidance, Learning and Training is a Protection Policy and Reform Unit (PPRU) workstream that has been established to attempt to bridge the gaps identified by the HMICFRS report, with regard to competence/experience of fire safety regulators, consistency of enforcement, and sharing of experiences.

The role of the NPLUG Chair is critical to the success of this group, and will pull together the input of a wide range of group members consisting of FRS regulators from all different Fire Authority types across all nations of the United Kingdom, as well as other regulators of the RRFSO including the Health & Safety Executive, Crown Premises Fire Safety Inspectorate, and the Defence Fire Safety Regulator.

The purpose of the group will be to consult upon and approve the guidance, learning and training being produced by the PPRU, and therefore the role of the Chair is seen as essential part of this system, and an excellent opportunity to assist in shaping the development of Protection information on the national stage. The NPLUG Chair will be responsible to CFO Gavin Tomlinson as Chair of the Protection and Business Safety Committee, to whom they will need to report on the progress of published materials.

The Chair will receive admin support from the PPRU, and it is currently envisaged that remote meetings of the user group will occur bi-monthly or quarterly, depending upon need, which will be set by the Chair.
