We have 4 vacancies based at Kings Lynn, Carrow (Norwich), Great Yarmouth and Thetford for Fire Safety Inspectors or Fire Safety Advisors.

Fire Safety Inspectors

  • Scale I £30,451 - £32,234 pa
  • Full time, 37 hours per week, substantive roles

As a Fire Safety Inspector, you will support enforcement activities in the Districts in line with the NFRS Risk Based Inspection Programme and other inspection priorities by inspecting, auditing and advising on fire risk assessments within existing buildings and premises.

You will need Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) Maths and English along with a Fire Safety Level 3 Certificate or equivalent. In addition, you will need experience and a working knowledge of undertaking fire risk inspections of premises and assessing risks and hazards, along with fire safety enforcement experience in a Fire and Rescue Service.

If not already held, we offer you the opportunity to gain your Fire Safety Level 4 Diploma.

Fire Safety Advisors

  • Scale G £24,982 – 27,041pa
  • Full time, 37 hours per week, substantive roles

If you are interested in a career as a Fire Safety Inspector but do not yet hold the required qualifications and experience, the Fire Safety Advisor role could offer you the opportunity you have been looking for.

Fire Safety Advisor roles are entry level posts, providing you with an opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications needed to become a Fire Safety Inspector, including your Fire Safety Level 3 Certificate.

As Fire Safety Advisor, you will undertake fire safety audits in line with Service Plans to discharge the Authority’s statutory duties under fire safety legislation and to

provide fire safety advice and guidance to local authorities, businesses, commerce, the public and to professional and other regulatory bodies.

To apply for a Fire Safety Advisor role, you will need to hold Level 2 Maths and English qualifications and you will need experience and a working knowledge of undertaking fire risk inspections of premises and assessing risks and hazards.

As outlined in the job details, once in post you will need to follow the development pathway to become a Fire Safety Inspector.
