The Role:

The Networked Fire Services Partnership (NFSP) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join us at a time of transformation. The NFSP is a collaboration between Devon & Somerset, Dorset & Wiltshire and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Services to drive efficiencies, improve the resilience to our control rooms and allow seamless cross border mobilisation. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing from inception to completion the projects, to design options and deliver the future of the NFSP Control collaboration, building on our already high performance by achieving more through our partnership arrangements. 

The Networked Fire Services Partnership are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with excellent project management skills, to manage multiple concurrent projects. You will work closely with the NFSP delivery and governance groups and the structures within each Service. You will establish connections nationally to assist with the projects and will ensure that the highest standards are achieved within time and budget constraints. 

You will be required to travel to various locations across the partnership and nationally as required and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Successfully manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects including technically complex ICT projects that deliver long term, strategy aligned outcomes.
  • Direct and monitor staff in the completion of projects and products. Manage external consultants, as well as project staff to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Work to recognised project management standards following Government guidance and to the NFSP's own project management requirements. 
  • Ensure design and works are to programme, within project budget and that risks and benefits are appropriately managed and tracked.
  • Prepare estimates, monitor and review project costs to ensure completion within agreed budgets. Achieve required level of quality and ensure value for money. Agree final measures and payments.
  • Build a robust communications plan and represent the team and the NFSP at meetings, liaise with the service stakeholders, project team, consultants and the users. To prepare reports (including regular reports to the Project Board) as required. 
About You:
  • An excellent communicator and have a positive attitude to internal/external customer care.
  • Sensitive both to the impact of the changes you are introducing and the political environment. 
  • Able to effectively negotiate with external organisations.
  • Able to develop and sustain effective working relationships with both internal and external partners.
  • Extensive and relevant experience in managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to lead small project teams through delegation and management.
  • Proven success of working within strict budgetary controls, including the analysis and interpretation of financial information.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to prioritise workload in order to manage time effectively. This includes being able to work on own initiative and respond positively to workload pressures.
  • Good and relevant experience of working with stakeholders, contractors and agencies. Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills and be able to deal effectively with members of staff at all levels and (at a non-technical level) with councillors and the general public.
  • Experience of preparing reports and correspondence, using research and information gathering techniques.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project.
