Fire Fighter Pension Schemes Technical Officer

  • 37 hours per week
  • Grade 9 - £32,234 - £35,745 per annum

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are seeking to appoint a Pensions Officer with specialist expert knowledge and understanding of Firefighters Pension Schemes to provide a flexible and professional technical and pension administration service to support the management of all SFRS pensions schemes (FPS & LGPS).

The role will be responsible for managing the Contract between the Authority and the Pension Administration Services provider co-ordinating the delivery of an efficient and effective service to members, and potential members, of the Firefighters Pension Scheme and the LGPS.

  • The role will also support the Firefighter Pension Board, by overseeing and co-ordinating the necessary high level of administration.
  • The successful candidate will provide an effective service for the members and employer through excellent customer care and by continually improving service delivery.
  • The successful candidate will have an understanding of the Schemes with excellent customer service skills and the ability to clearly explain complicated details to scheme members and internal customers.
  • Working closely with the HR team the individual will provide advice and guidance on pension related matters.
  • The role requires effective interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver on projects and a sound working knowledge of pensions in the Fire Service environment.
