Station Commanders - Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (REF: SC:HFRS)

£41,578 - £45,861 plus Flexi Duty Officer uplift

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is a dynamic and forward-looking organisation seeking applications from talented and inspirational people who will be able to implement and support the strategic vision of the organisation in the years to come.

You will be expected to work alongside our partner organisations to constantly improve service delivery, thus ensuring that we consistently meet the expectations of all who live, work and travel through the county of Hertfordshire.

This opportunity is open to anyone who is currently either a:

  • Substantive, competent, wholetime Watch Commander, employed by a Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service. 
  • Wholetime Station Commander, in development employed by a Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service. 
  • Wholetime Competent Station Commanders can apply as transferees and will only be required to complete an operational assessment & interview.

The successful candidates will be committed to delivering safer, stronger and healthier communities; have the ability to demonstrate resilience, courage and tenacity to see through change; be committed to diversity and has previously demonstrated outstanding management and leadership skills.

The successful candidates will also be expected to demonstrate their ability to manage operational incidents by completing an incident command assessment. The post holder will be expected to provide operational cover and therefore live, or provide a base, within the County boundary of Hertfordshire.
