NFCC Leadership Project - Project Board Member

Expressions of interest are invited to apply for the role of NFCC Leadership project board member due to the retirement of CFO Andrew Brodie.

The Leadership project has been running for 18 months and has already delivered some significant products. These include the Core Code of Ethics and the Coaching and Mentoring toolkit, with the NFCC Talent Management Framework and a NFCC Coaching and Mentoring portal currently in development. It has also led to the development of two new projects: NFCC Direct Entry and NFCC Supervisory Leadership Development. Prior to the formal Board, the Leadership project delivered the NFCC Leadership Framework and NFCC Core Learning Pathways.

We are looking for leaders who will strengthen our current Leadership Board and participate in the broad range of workstreams to be delivered. Your focus will be to lead the work to deliver the NFCC Coaching and Mentoring Portal, which is well underway, working closely with the HR/OD Business Partner. The working group meet monthly, and you will be expected to attend and led these meetings.

It is an exciting time to get involved with this piece of work. The national dialogue is building momentum, with the Home Office and HMICFRS taking a keen interest in the Leadership work. The project board will have clear opportunities to shape the direction and influence that dialogue.

We are looking for Strategic Leads from across the UK fire and rescue service with significant personal networks and an interest in how the fire and rescue service can modernise, diversify, and strengthen its leadership. You will have a strong vision and experience in delivering leadership programmes within your fire and rescue service.

As a board member, you will work alongside other board members to the NFCC Leadership Project Executive. We have recently appointed CFO Wayne Bowcock as the NFCC Leadership Project Executive for when CFO Rebecca Bryant retires in September 2021.

The Project Board meet quarterly, with the NFCC CPO providing project support.

For information or queries on the NFCC Leadership project, please contact Rebecca Bryant,, the current NFCC Leadership Project Executive or People Programme Manager, Fay Pisani (

Expressions of interest for this role are to be sent to Rebecca Bryant ( by the closing date of 25 August 2021.
