NFCC Leadership Project Executive

Expressions of Interest are invited from Chief Fire Officers/Chief Executives to take the role of the Project Executive for the NFCC Leadership Project due to the retirement of CFO Rebecca Bryant.

The NFCC Leadership project has already delivered some significant products, including developing two new projects: NFCC Direct Entry and NFCC Supervisory Leadership Development. These are now delivered in their own boards but will feed into the NFCC Leadership Project Board for information and ongoing dependencies.

The Project Executive would be accountable for the project, ensuring it meets its objectives and delivers the defined outputs. You would need to have a passion and commitment to drive transformational change, giving a steer and strategic direction to this cross-cutting area of work.

You will have a strong vision and experience in delivering leadership programmes within your fire and rescue service and be familiar with the NFCC Leadership Framework and NFCC Core Learning Pathways.

Areas of the NFCC Leadership Project you will be accountable for include the NFCC Talent Management Framework, the national NFCC Coaching and Mentoring Online Portal, and the Fire Standard: Develop and Promote Leadership. All are in the project design and development phase with clear outputs and end dates. The position does not include the role of the Programme Director of the Executive Leadership Programme.

The Leadership Project Board meet quarterly to support the governance cycle, with the Chair reporting into the People Programme and providing a voice at the NFCC Full Council to champion key issues. The anticipated workload would include chairing four Project Boards and attending four People Programme Boards plus other occasional ad hoc meetings. As well as the Central Programme Office providing all project management support, there are two dedicated OD/HR Business Partners seconded to support the delivery of the Leadership, Direct Entry and Supervisory Leadership Development projects.

For information or queries on the NFCC Leadership project, please contact Rebecca Bryant at, the current NFCC Leadership Project Executive, or Fay Pisani, People Programme Manager, at

If you would like to apply, a short expression of interest should be submitted to Ann Millington, People Programme Executive, via, explaining relevant experience and what you bring to the role, by the closing date of midday on Wednesday 30th June 2021.
